Ravens Beaten Twice at Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. - The Rosemont softball team (0-20, 0-14 CSAC) lost a pair of CSAC games at host Keystone College (10-17, 5-8 CSAC) this afternoon by scores of 8-0 (6 innings) and 10-2 (5 innings).

Game 1

Keystone's Alys Hughes kept the Ravens off the board, going all six innings for the shutout win. The Ravens managed four hits against Hughes, with the hits coming from Bailey Schulte, Charlie Fillmore, Darby O'Rourke, and Ciani Fleming-Evans.

Rosemont starter Maggie Miller wriggled herself out of a bases loaded jam to escape without giving up a run in the first inning, and then stranded a couple of Giants in the second inning to keep the game scoreless.

Fillmore relieved Miller to start the bottom of the 3rd, and she gave up a run on one hit to put the Giants ahead 1-0. Keystone put together a more damaging inning in their half of the fourth, scoring four runs on four hits to grab a 5-0 lead after four innings were played. The Giants added their sixth run in the 5th inning, and ended the game with one out in the 6th, when their second run of the inning came home.

Miller pitched an effective two innings, giving up two hits and walking three, but gave up no runs.

Game 2

Bailey Schulte was the starter in the circle for the Ravens, but she was let down by the Rosemont defense in her inning of work, as Keystone scored five runs in the frame on two hits, with the Ravens committing three errors. Three of the five runs charged to Schulte were earned runs. Charlie Fillmore relieved Schulte in the second and worked the rest of the game, giving up five runs (4 earned) in her 3+ innings of work.

Giants' pitcher Em Faulkner. scattered six Rosemont hits, with a pair of knocks coming from Dani Lelie, and hits coming from Schulte, Brianna Macauley, Darby O'Rourke, and Cassie Rehnert. The Ravens runs both scored in the 3rd inning when Macauley singled up the middle for an RBI, scoring Bailey Schulte. A groundout from Maggie Miller scored Lelie for the second run, and after 2 1/2 innings were played, the Ravens trailed 7-2. Keystone scored a run in the 4th and two more in the 5th to secure the win.

Em Faulkner went the distance for the Giants, giving up a pair of runs on six hits, striking out six and walking one. For the Ravens, Charlie Fillmore struck out four and walked one.

The Ravens return to the Ravens Athletic Complex on Tuesday for a CSAC doubleheader against the Notre Dame (MD) Gators. The first game of the doubleheader is slated to start at 3:00pm.
