How It Happened

Match 1

The Ravens got to within 5-4 in the first set, but the host Lions scored the next five straight points to take a 10-4 lead. Rosemont would outscore Bryn Athyn 7-3 to inch back to within two points at 13-11. From that point, Bryn Athyn scored six of the next seven points to lead by seven, 19-12 and won the set 25-17.

In the second set the Ravens trailed by one point, 10-9, but the Lions outscored the Ravens in eight of the next nine rallies to put themselves in front to stay. Bryn Athyn won the first six points and eight of the first nine points in the third set and held off the Ravens to win the set 25-17. The Ravens did put together seven points out of eight rallies, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lions.

Match 2

The Ravens won two of the first three sets by good margins. With the Ravens needing to win a set to earn their first victory of the season, the Lions held a slight advantage until they pulled ahead of the Ravens, 13-9. Rosemont responded with four straight points to knot the set at 13-13, but the Lions responded with seven straight points to take a commanding 20-13 lead. The Ravens again clawed back into the set, outscoring Bryn Athyn 11-4 to tie the set at 24-24. Unfortunately, a service and attack error by the Ravens resulted in the Lions winning the final two points, and the fourth set 26-24.

The Ravens fell behind 5-1 in the deciding set, but again scratched their way back to within a point, trailing 6-5. Bryn Athyn would win seven of the next nine points to grab a 13-7 lead, and though the Ravens outscored the Lions down the stretch, it wasn't enough to make up the difference.
