Snow No Obstacle As Ravens Shovel Past Dolphins

The Basics

  • Final Score: Rosemont Ravens 16, College of Mt. Saint Vincent Dolphins 6
  • Records: Rosemont (2-3), Mt. Saint Vincent (0-2)
  • Location: Rosemont, Pa. (Ravens Athletic Complex)

How It Happened

After having their game postponed yesterday, the Rosemont men's lacrosse team made sure the matchup with the College of Mt. Saint Vincent Dolphins would be played no matter what. The 21-man roster took to the gray Ravens Athletic Complex turf shoveling out the sizeable amount that fell on Friday morning/afternoon to ensure that they did not lose a home game or have it rescheduled for a later date. Their efforts were rewarded with a 16-6 victory over the Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

The Ravens wasted little time getting on the board as at the 2:55 mark Anthony Bottoms set up a cutting Ben Koszelak who put the ball behind Mt. Saint Vincent keeper Christian Brody to make it 1-0. About three minutes later the Dolphins hit the net as Ken Brown-Oda went in solo on Cassius Christie and slipped it by him to tie the game. Rosemont then answered with two straight goals from Purnell Summers and Koszelak making it 3-1 Ravens with eight minutes to play. The high scoring first continued as Mt. Saint Vincent picked up the next three as Brown-Oda, Michael Puchalski and Tyler Porter found the back of the net. That saw the quarter end with the Dolphins up 4-3.

In the second, it was the Ravens who were flying high on goals from Dan Bowden, Anthony Bottoms, Tyler Ferrara (2) and Zach Bowe sent Rosemont on a 5-0 flight. The teams headed to the locker room at the half with the Ravens ahead 8-4.

The third quarter was the lowest scoring of the game as Rosemont outscored the Dolphins 3-1 in the 15-minute period. Summers (2) and Brandon Krausse beat Brody for the Ravens. James Fitzgerald was the lone goal scorer for Mt. Saint Vincent. After three Rosemont had a comfortable 11-5 lead.

The Ravens put the contest away in the fourth, starting on another Bottoms to Koszelak setup at the 1:11 mark. Anthony Bottoms would score a hat trick in the final frame on goals with 10:01, 3:55 and 1:45 left on the clock. Koszelak added one more on the day and Puchalski found the net for the Dolphins' lone marker. When the final horn sounded, Rosemont left with their second straight victory by a final of 16-6.
