Game One

How It Happened

The Ravens got off to a good start in their very first time at bat at Valley Forge University against the host Patriots. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter led off the inning with a double. A one-out single from Charli Fillmore put runners on the corners. Kaileigh Whalen then steeped up to the plate and smashed a three-run homer to put the Ravens in front 3-0. After a scoreless second frame, the Ravens added another run to their lead on a Lena Buccigrossi ground out to make it 4-0. Rosemont would add another pair of unearned runs in the fourth to go up 6-0.

Meanwhile, Rosemont hurler Autumn Sharkey was lights-out for the Ravens, twirling a shutout through five innings.

The Ravens broke open the game in a big way in the top of the 6th inning, plating 11 runs on six hits. The Patriots committed six errors in the frame.

Sharkey closed out the game to earn the win, striking out 12 Patriots and giving up only one hit with no walks surrendered. The 12 strikeouts was one away from the program record of 13 strikeouts in a single game, accomplished by Lauren Davidson vs. Villa Julie on 3/2/2002.

The game got the Ravens off to a 1-0 start, and was a perfect start for new softball Head Coach Francine Roseman.

Game Two

Considering the cold afternoon, the Ravens kept up their hot batting and pitching into the second game of the doubleheader.

Rosemont plated three runs in the top of the first. Bailey Schulte led off the inning with a single and a stolen base. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter then singled home Schulte for the first run. A Charli Fillmore single put runners on first and second before a double-steal put the runners on second and third base. A Kaileigh Whalen groundout scored Naone-Carter and moved Fillmore to third base. A Sharkey groundout scored Fillmore to put Rosemont up 3-0.

The Ravens put up a big five runs in the third inning. Darby O'Rourke got things started with a one-out triple, followed by a Victoria Kasper single. A Schulte walk and Naone-Carter singled scored Kasper. Chalie Fillmore hit into a fielders choice, and got the RBI when Schulte came across. A wild pitch scored Naone-Carter before Sharkey grounded out to score Fillmore.

After a scoreless third inning, Rosemont added another five runs in the fourth to take a 13-0 lead. RBI in the inning came from Lena Buccigrossi, Darby O'Rourke and Victoria Kasper.
