How It Happened
With snow still covering the friendly confines of the Ravens Athletic Complex Softball stadium, the Rosemont softball team stepped onto the field today for only the second time all season and once again on the road. As they made the trip to the Swarthmore College Garnet. This contest was originally scheduled to be played at Rosemont, but last week's storm force the relocation of the game from home to Clothier Field. The "host" Garnet (Rosemont was considered to be the home team, because of the change of venue) would take advantage of not having to travel, as they defeated the Ravens by a final of 10-2.

The game started out well for the Ravens as pitcher Autumn Sharkey retired Swarthmore 1-2-3 in the top of the 1st. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter led off with a walk, then stole second. Next Bailey Schulte came to bat, and Naone-Carter went to third on a passed ball. Schulte reached on a fielder's choice and stole second as well. Charlie Fillmore then struck out. With runners at second and third and one out, Kaileigh Whalen was out on a grounder to second that allowed Lohi to score. Unfortunately, on the play Schulte was caught in a "rundown" and was tagged out at third to end the first 1-0 Rosemont.

After a scoreless second the Garnet went to work in the third, as they scored four runs. With Kennedy Kings at third, Gabriella Natoli singled to tie the game at one. Swarthmore continued the rally with an RBI single from Sara Planthaber and a two-run double off the bat of Emilie Morse made it 4-1 after three.

In the top of the fourth, Kings once again crossed the plate on a knock from Natoli. Swarthmore added one more in the frame as Natoli stole second, advanced to third and came around to score on an error which gave the Garnet a comfortable 6-1 lead heading to the bottom of the fourth. Whalen pulled one back for the Ravens in the bottom as she cleared the fence with her second home run of the season making it 6-2.

Swarthmore plated two more in the fifth as Marisa Mancini scored on a Planthaber fielder's choice. She then crossed home herself on yet another fielder's choice, this one hit by Kings. That ran the score to 8-2 after five.

Solo runs in the sixth and seventh for the Garnet and a 1-2-3 bottom of the final inning for the Rosemont sent the Ravens to their first loss of the season by a final of 10-2.
