Ravens Earn First Win Of The Season Over Purchase

How It Happened
The Rosemont men's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season this afternoon defeating the visiting Purchase College Panthers by a final of 15-7 at the RAC. The Ravens got off to a good start only 3:21 into the contest as Anthony Bottoms found Tyler Ferrara who beat Panthers keeper Michael Fruhling giving Rosemont a 1-0 lead. The lead lasted for about five minutes before Purchase scored three straight goals in the span of 57 seconds to take a 3-1 edge. Malik Slye pulled the Ravens back to within one sticking one into the net with 3:04 to go, and the first ended 3-2 Panthers.

In the second quarter Rosemont came out flying high as Anthony Bottoms started a 5-1 goal run, which saw Bobby Fritz, Ben Koszelak, and Tyler Ferrara all contribute. Heading to the halftime break on a cold day on the Main Line, the Ravens were in front 7-4.

Bobby Fritz picked up his second goal of the game with 8:32 left in the third to give Rosemont an 8-4 lead heading to the fourth.

The final frame saw Purchase cut the score to 8-5 1:52 into the quarter on a goal from Johan Morales. Ben Koszelak would put the Ravens back up by four at 9-5 with 11:49 left. The Panthers however did not go quietly as Simon Lai hit the back of the net 43 later closing it back to a 9-6 score. Over the final 9:46 Rosemont put the game out of reach as they outscored Purchase 6-1. The final horn sounded and the Ravens gave Head Coach Dave Baker win number one, by a final of 15-7.
