Ravens Lose Pair to Cyclones

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Legion Field) – The Rosemont College softball team were shut out in both ends of today's doubleheader on the road against the host Centenary University Cyclones, losing the first game 12-0, and the second game, 7-0. With the results, Rosemont fell to 2-7 (0-6 CSAC), while Centenary improved to 6-12 (4-2 CSAC).

Game 1 (Centenary 12, Rosemont 0)
Rosemont  0-6-2
Centenary 12-12-0

The Cyclones got rolling in the first inning, given some help from a Rosemont error that led to two unearned Centenary runs in the frame, putting the Ravens behind 2-0 after one.

Another Rosemont defensive miscue helped the Cyclones to put six runs on the board in the second inning, putting the home side up with a sizeable 8-0 advantage after two innings.

The Cyclones put another four runs on the board in the 4th inning to close out the scoring in the game.

Though the Ravens didn't score, they did scratch out six hits in the game. Lena Buccigrossi had a pair of hits, while Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter, Autumn Sharkey, Leilani Naone-Carter, and Darby O'Rourke each had safeties. Leilani Naone-Carter had a stolen base.

Game 2 (Centenary 8, Rosemont 0)

Rosemont  0-6-1
Centenary 7-13-0

The game started out with a four-run rally by the Cyclones in the first inning. The Ravens settled down the next couple of innings, but Centenary broke through with a pair of runs in the 4th inning to take a 6-0 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, the Cyclones added another run to end the contest.

The Ravens again had chances on base in this game, but couldn't cash them in for runs. Leilani Naoni-Carter had a couple of hits to lead Rosemont. Singles came off the bats of Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter, Bailey Schulte, Autumn Sharkey, and Abigail Wolfe. Schulte also had a stolen base in the contest.

The Ravens will work to get back on the happy side of the scoreboard in this busy week, starting with a doubleheader at the College of St. Elizabeth on Wednesday, with the first game starting at 3:00pm.
