Emma Lindsay turned away all seven shots on goal as Rosemont's women's soccer team earned a resounding 3-0 Senior Day victory over Bryn Athyn Thursday afternoon to secure the fifth seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs.
The Ravens (5-11, 4-4 CSAC) will begin its playoff journey on Monday in LaPlume, PA when they will face fourth-seed Keystone, who lost to Cairn by a 3-0 margin at home on Thursday afternoon in a game that determined the third and fourth seed in the conference. Game time will determined on Friday. Bryn Athyn will be the sixth seed and will travel to Cairn in the other first round contest. Centenary and Cedar Crest are the top two seeds in the tournament and have earned byes to the semifinals on Wednesday.
The Ravens- who celebrated their senior class of Polino,
Darby O'Rourke,
Destiny Castro and
Charli Fillmore in a pre-game ceremony- dominated the action with 19 shots- 10 on goal- and a push that seemed to keep the Lions on their heels all game.
Mazzeo got the scoring underway in the ninth minute with a powerful kick from just outside the 18-yard area for her 11th goal of the season.
Polino scored less than three minutes into the second half, converting a perfect cross from Mazzeo for her fifth goal of the season. Ten minutes later, Johnston scored from just outside the right post, banking it off Bryn Athyn goalkeeper Allie Warren for her fourth goal of the season.
That's all that Lindsay would need for her fourth shutout of the season.
