The old hockey saying about momentum swinging with a goal in the final minute unfortunately proved true for the Rosemont men's soccer team on Wednesday night.
The Ravens played a strong first half, but saw Mark Staudenmayer added a dagger goal with 18 seconds left in the first half to propel Immaculata to a 3-0 win over Rosemont in a non-conference contest at the Ravens Athletic Complex.
That's four losses in a row for Rosemont (3-8), who have been shutout in each game and haven't recorded a goal in any of their last five losses.
The Ravens played a solid first half that saw them force the action and get a couple really strong scoring chances. It appeared they would go into the half with a manageable 1-0 deficit that was created by Zachary Malcolm's goal in the 22nd minute.
However, Staudenmayer blocked an outlet pass, chased the ball down into the box, made a move and scored with what felt like a huge goal to put the Mighty Macs up 2-0 at intermission.
Rosemont didn't seem able to get much of an offensive attack going in the second half to cut into the deficit as Immaculata went into a defensive shell of its own. Malcolm's second goal with under four minutes left ended the scoring.
The Ravens will begin a four game in eight day stretch- including three on the road- on Saturday when they travel to Centenary to face the Cyclones in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
