Rosemont College is pleased to announce that it will add men's volleyball to its athletic program, starting in the spring of 2020.
The addition of the men's volleyball program is a continuation of the strategic plan that the school set forward back in June, 2017 for a three year period.Â
The men's program will be lead by women's volleyball coach James Feeny. Feeny has been a successful coach at the high school, club and now collegiate levels, heading the women's program over the past two seasons.Â
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to establish Men's Volleyball here at Rosemont," Feeny said. "This is a ground floor chance to build a tradition of excellence right from the beginning. The challenge in front of us can not be underestimated; but with the right approach from the players, we can and will be at top end of the conference. The ride begins in the Spring of 2020; see you there."
"I am excited about adding men's volleyball to our sponsorship offerings," said Joseph Pavlow, Rosemont's Director of Athletics."Volleyball on the men's side is a growing sport in our region and we are always looking to provide more opportunities to allow more Rosemont students to have a quality student athlete experience. Selecting Jim as the head men's coach was an easy choice. He has the knowledge of Rosemont as well as the volleyball landscape in the region that we were looking for."
The addition of men's volleyball will bring the number of sports offered at the school to 15 teams overall - seven of them on the men's side. Additional sports are targeted for addition in the coming years as part of the strategic plan.
When the men's program is beginning play, they will do so in the brand new volleyball facilities that are being built into the under construction Rosemont Community Center where Cardinal Hall currently stands. Â That facility is scheduled to open in the Fall, 2019 with the volleyball court being a part of the Sr. Mary George O'Reilly, SHCJ Community Room.
