Mazzeo's two goals allow Ravens to down Clarks Summit

At a time when they really needed it, Rosemont turned to its co-captain to help raise the level.
And Maciana Mazzeo did exactly what team leaders are supposed to in big spots.
The sophomore co-captain scored twice in a span of two and a half minutes to help lift the Ravens to a much-needed 2-1 victory at Clarks Summit University Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
The win helped Rosemont (2-9, 1-3 CSAC) snap a five game losing streak. And the two goals helped lift Mazzeo to a tie for sixth in the CSAC leaderboard for goals this season with six. Mazzeo had six of the 11 Ravens goals on the season.
After a scoreless first half, Mazzeo broke the scoring drought in the 64th minute, capitalizing on a feed from Lauren Lightcap to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later in the 67th minute, Mazzeo scored unassisted to help propel the Ravens to a two-goal lead.
Simone Stewart would score for the Defenders in the 72nd minute to bring Clarks Summit within one. But the Ravens did a good job of preventing CSU from getting quality scoring chances, as Clarks Summit only had four shots on goal all afternoon.
Rosemont continues its CSAC road trip on Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Wilson College.
