Ravens start strong with win over Penn State Brandywine

ROSEMONT, Pa. - For starters, Saturday was a good sign of what the Rosemont women's basketball team could be capable of performing to this season.

Three Ravens scored in double figures as Rosemont grabbed a lead with a strong second quarter and never looked back, defeating Penn State-Brandywine by a 78-61 margin during a non-conference contest at Alumnae Hall.

It is the second straight season that the Ravens began the year with a win over the Lions. This one, however, was convincing on a lot of levels. One of them was the scoring depth that developed through the course of the afternoon as the Ravens adjusted following a slew of turnovers.

Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter. had a team high 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds on Saturday, but she was joined by Ashley Murray that added 13 points and five boards despite some early foul trouble that limited her first half minutes. Jayme Byers also got into the act with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor.

Overall, the Ravens were able to shoot 41 percent from the floor, including a 58 percent stretch in the third quarter that helped them expand the lead.

Rosemont will not play again until next weekend when they will travel to play at the St. Mary's (Md.) Tournament. The Ravens will play Bridgewater College on Friday night (8 p.m. tipoff) before playing Randolph College on Friday.
