Myers scores 22, but Ravens drop season opener at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J.- Jalil Myers scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to get Rosemont over the top on Thursday night during a 96-87 loss to Rowan in the opening round of the LaScala's Fire Tournament in Glassboro.

The Ravens were able to battle back from an 18-point deficit less than three minutes into the second half (72-54) to cut the lead to two on two separate occasions - a Michael Webb layup at the 8:23 mark made it 76-74 and a Keith Blassingale pair of free throws made the Profs lead 78-76  with 6:04 to play. However, a 18-11 surge by Rowan down the stretch was able to put the game out of reach.

Myers was one of three Ravens in double figures. Blassingale- playing his first game with the Ravens - scored 17 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the floor. Basil Thompson- another newcomer to the Ravens lineup- added 13 points before fouling out with 5:42 to play.

In contrast, the Profs had seven players score in double figures on the evening. They were lead by freshman guard Connor Dickerson, who scored 17 points while senior Ramon Wright had 16 points.

The Ravens will be back in New Jersey on Friday night for the consolation game of the LaScala's Fire Tournament. They will play Widener, who fell to Penn State-Brandywine in the first game of the evening.
