ROSEMONT, Pa -- There's good. There's great. And then, there's perfection.
Alex Epps-Ortiz was able to experience that final feeling on Wednesday night in a game that lifted Rosemont back to the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs for a fifth straight year.
The junior forward came into the night averaging 5.5 points a game. He scored a career-high 24 on 11-of-11 shooting from the floor while grabbing five rebounds as the Ravens rolled to a 92-61 win over Cairn University at Alumnae Hall.
Rosemont will play one final regular season home game against Keystone on Saturday afternoon. They will play a playoff game on Monday night in the first round of the CSACÂ tournament and will earn the four-seed and a home game with a win on Saturday. They are now clear by a game on Immaculata, Keystone and Marywood, who have spots 5-6-7 tied up. Â Immaculata and MArywood play each other on Saturday afternoon in what may amount to a winner-in, loser-out circumstance.
The story on Wednesday night was Epps-Ortiz, who got hot midway through the first half when the Ravens were having trouble pulling away from the Highlanders. Epps-Ortiz had 10 points in the session on 5 of 5 shooting from the floor to give Rosemont a 42-28 lead at intermission.
Jalil Myers (17 points) and
Mekhi Clemons (12 points) also broke into double figures for the Ravens.Â
Clarence Brunot had 20 points off the bench for the Highlanders.
