BROOKLYN, N.Y.- After a few rough days in the Florida sun last week during a Spring Break trip to Orlando that featured flight cancellations and long van rides, maybe the best thing that happened to the Rosemont softball team was a nice 40 degree day and crosstown traffic in New York City.
The Ravens took both ends of a doubleheader against Brooklyn College, with Autumn Sharkey tossing a five-inning perfect game during a 19-0 win in Game 1. In the nightcap that was played in 38 degree temperatures, Charlie Fillmore allowed only one hit during an 11-0 rout of the Bulldogs that was also called after five innings.
It was a good day for the Ravens bats, who generated 16 hits in the opener after only producing three combined in the three games at the PFX Spring Games tournament. They followed that up with five more hits in the nightcap win, also taking advantage of seven Brooklyn errors.
Sharkey was able to strike out seven while retiring the Bulldogs in order for the contest. Fillmore was also able to strike out seven on the night, allowing only fourth inning single along the way.
The Ravens are back in action in New York on Saturday afternoon when they head to Jamaica to face York College.
