Hummel, Koszelak, Porter lead Ravens to first win of season

La PLUME, PA - It may have taken a while to take place. But for the Rosemont lacrosse team, the first win was certainly worth the wait.
Dylan Hummel and Ben Koszelak each scored four times while Mark Porter's outstanding net play was rewarded with his first career victory as the Ravens ended a nine-game losing streak with a 13-9 win over Keystone College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest at the Giants Turf Field Complex.
The win ended a 10-game losing streak for the Ravens, who last tasted victory on April 22, 2017 with a 11-10 overtime home win over Gwynedd-Mercy. It was Rosemont's first road win since a 9-8 win at Keystone back on April 27, 2016- a stretch of nine road games.
Koszelak and Hummel have been two of the brightest spots for the Ravens all season and they added to that total on Saturday. Koszelak scored the final two goals of the game - pulling the Ravens away when it appeared that the Giants were going to rally and make the game tight early in the third. For the season, Koszelak has 20 goals in 10 games.
Hummel's four goals all came in the first half, helping the Ravens rally from an early deficit to post a 7-4 lead at intermission.
Brandon Krausse added three goals- including two on the man-advantage- to assist the cause. Josh Chiapetta and Ricardo Vargas added individual goals.
Porter has been stellar for most of the season, facing a ton of shots and making a number of saves during the year. However, he enjoyed a calmer day on Saturday- making nine big saves along the day.
Rosemont plays at SUNY-Purchase on Tuesday night in a makeup of a postponed game in early March due to the snow. They will be back at home next Saturday afternoon against Immaculata for the final home regular season game of the season.
