Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Kevin Cooney

Two late goals sink Ravens against Methodist

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In a blink, the potential first win of the season slipped out of the Rosemont men's soccer teams grasp.
Leading 1-0 with under 10 minutes to play, the Ravens surrendered two goals in one minute, 59 seconds during 2-1 loss to Methodist Saturday night in a non-conference game at the Swarthmore Invitational hosted by Swarthmore College.
The Ravens have started 0-2. However, Saturday night had to be far more disappointing because victory was within Rosemont's grasp in the game's final moments.
Josh Dawicki's first goal of the season- this one coming after an assist by Alioune Sy in the 25th minute- appeared all set to stand up.
But a tremendous run by Methodist's Tyler Hilbert finished with him receiving a pass from Garrett Shan, knocking it past Ravens goaltender Grant Gonzalez to tie the game with 5:12 left in regulation.
One hundred and 19 seconds later, Conor Morris found a loose ball of a scramble in front of Gonzalez and knocked it home to give Methodist its only lead of the game.
The Ravens had one more good chance, but Sal Turelli's corner kick eventually would lead to a hit crossbar that wouldn't bounce the right way.
Rosemont will return to action in its home opener on Wednesday night (7 p.m.) when they host Stockton University.
