ROSEMONT, Pa. - Close games in non-league contest can be good things.
They can also drive the frustration level up to alarming heights as well.
For the Rosemont men's soccer team on Wednesday night, the good things they did- playing a solid defensive game, able to force a few key attacks- were squandered with two second half hiccups.
Those mistakes ended up in the back of the net as the Ospeys scored twice in 20 minutes and held on to beat the Ravens by a 2-1 margin in a non-conference game at the Ravens Athletic Complex.
Rosemont- playing without catalyst
Josh Dawicki, who was injured late in Saturday's loss against Methodist- were able to trade punch for punch for most of the evening. However, the Ospeys (1-2) would receive goals from Villy Fortulus and Jake Trieber in the second half to take a 2-0 cushion with just under 12 to play. (Trieber's goal was the result of a miskick by the Ravens in their own backfield, allowing him to have a clear look at the net.)
Christian Rafter would get the Ravens back within one with just 9:18 to play, converting on a penalty kick after a Stockton foul in the box. But a few pressing chances could not net the equalizer.
Rosemont will be home on Friday night to face Goucher College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
