Daniel Ortiz's shot went into the upper right corner and
David Carvalho unleashed a fist pump.
After all, why not? His team was crackling like firecrackers on the 4th of July.
Ortiz's blistering shot capped off a first half explosion to gave the Ravens a big cushion they would need down the stretch during a 3-2 win over Penn State-Brandywine Monday night in the last non-conference game before the Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule gets underway this weekend.
Rosemont played its most complete half of the season with its three-goal explosion that saw
Will Boehmer,
Kareem Devenish and Ortiz all find the back of the net. Ortiz's shot- a free kick from 35 yards out- was perfectly placed and appeared to signal a rout coming in on a rainy Monday evening.
But things got tight late. Mohamad Camera scored with 16 minutes left to get Brandywine on the board. Then, Daniel Willie scored with 1:30 to play on a shot that just sneaked over
Grant Gonzalez's glove and things got tight.
However, Brandywine was never able to get a serious shot for an equalizer before the clock ran out.
Rosemont will return home on Friday night when they host Bryn Athyn in the CSAC opener for both sides.Â
