Ravens tie single-season win mark with 12th straight win in rout of Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. -  They are walking down a historic road right now. And every step that the Rosemont women's basketball team takes from here until the end of their journey will be a step further than any other Ravens squad has ever traveled.

Rosemont tied the school record for wins in a season at 17 on Wednesday night as 11 different players broke into the scoring column during an 85-47 rout of Bryn Athyn in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest at Asplundh Fieldhouse.

It is the 12th straight win for the 17-3 Ravens, who officially secured a Colonial States Athletic Conference spot on Wednesday night when they improved to 11-0 overall. They can secure home court advantage through the CSAC Tournament in late February with one more win - which could.come as soon as Saturday afternoon at home against Wilson.

The Ravens also tied the 2012-13 Ravens for most wins in a season with 17. That Rosemont squad went 17-9 in 2012-13, falling in the first round of the CSAC Tournament to Keystone College at home. The 12th straight win extended the longest winning streak in school history. The previous high was an eight-game winning streak in 2016.

The issue was decided early on Wednesday night. The Ravens posted a 30-10 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks in large part to outstanding shooting from the floor, which saw Rosemont shoot 51.8 percent. The lead swelled to 52-21 at halftime.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

- Jayme Byers scored a team-high 16 points coming off the bench on 8 of 10 shooting from the floor. Since Jan. 12, Byers has averaged 12.7 points per game in six games while shooting 38 for 48 from the floor (79.1 percent).

- Ashley Murray and Shirle Brown each scored 13 points for the Ravens. Murray had eight rebounds while both players recorded a block and three steals.

- Ayanna Thompson had five assists while Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter and Shawn Dowd each had four assists. The Ravens had 24 assists on 38 field goals.

- The Ravens had a 58-18 edge in points in the paint.

UP NEXT: The Ravens host Wilson College for Alumnae Day at Alumnae Hall. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. It is Rosemont's next to last home game of the regular season. They will play three of the final four on the road before the post-season (at Clarks Summit, at Cairn, home vs. Centenary, at Cedar Crest).
