Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

MSOC GETS FIRST CONFERENCE WIN ON SENIOR DAY

Rosemont, PA- The Rosemont men's soccer team defeated the Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon in a conference matchup and won 6-0. It was a special day for the ravens as it was the team's "senior day".

The seniors rose to the occasion on their special day by scoring and assisting on multiple goals. The ravens looked determined right from the kick-off. The first goal of the game came in the first eleven minutes of play by Will Boehmer off of a header, assisted by senior captain, Josh Dawicki. The ravens didn't settle for just one goal in the first half, they continued to attack the holes in the eagles defense. Sophomore Josh Mason scored in the 25th minute of play.The momentum continued to be in favor of the ravens as, senior, Alioune Sy scored a goal, with the assist from Mason. Senior Josh Dawicki was able to close out the half with a goal assisted by fellow senior, Ameer Payton to put the ravens up 4-0.

The ravens did not let up in the second half and continued to play with an attack mentality. The game got chippy as the officials tried to take control by issuing five yellow cards in the second half. This did not stop the ravens from being aggressive. Josh Dawicki tallied his second goal of the afternoon in the 53rd minute of play off of an assist from Sy. Alex Arriola sealed the win for Rosemont with a goal in the 63rd minute of play, assisted by senior, Nick Tortorella

Senior goalkeeper, Grant Gonzalez finished the game with five saves.

Rosemont Men's Soccer Seniors: 

Grant Gonzalez. Grant is a two year starter in goal for the Ravens after transferring from Randolph Macon College. A senior captain this year- Grant has been a great leader on and off the field. This season, Grant has 4 wins, 68 saves, 2 shutouts and a save percentage of .747, which puts him in 5th on the men's soccer all-time record list in save percentage. Grant accumulated a total of 170 saves in his Rosemont career so far. Grant also holds the all-time record at Rosemont for saves in a game for his 15 saves against Hoffstra in 2018. Grant will graduate with a degree in business. 
 
Alioune Sy. Sy is a senior midfielder for the ravens. A two year starter Sy currently leads the team with 3 goals scored this season. He has scored game winning goals against Goucher and the Kings college of NY. Sy will graduate with a degree in Sociology. 
 
Josh Dawicki. Josh is a midfielder who has been a four year starter for the Ravens. A senior captain Josh currently has two goals this season and has anchored the midfield for the ravens. For his career, Josh has 11 goals and 4 assists and was a Second team all CSAC performer in 2018. Josh will graduate with a degree in International Business. 
 
Ameer Payton. Ameer is a defender for the ravens . Ameer is a three year starter who has really solidified himself as one of the best defenders in the CSAC. He has started in 40 games over his three year career. Ameer will graduate with a degree in Biology. 
 
 Josh Lessig. Josh is a three year starter for the Ravens who has played almost every position on the field. This season he has scored 1 goal and assisted on one other. He has started 42 Games over his 4 year career for the ravens. Josh will graduate with a degree in Business Management. 
 
Nick Tortorella. Nick is a three year starter who has also played every position on the field for the Ravens. This season he scored a great goal against Immaculata which helped lead the Ravens to a big non-conference win. For his career he has started 42 games as a member of the men's soccer team. Nick will graduate with a degree in Business. 

The ravens will be back in action on Wednesday, October 16th in a home conference matchup against Wilson College at 7:00 pm.
