CLARKS SUMMIT - A resounding first half on Wednesday night has moved the Rosemont men's basketball team to the precipice of the place they wanted to be all along: a spot in the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff tournament.
Rosemont jumped out big and never looked back as
Keith Blassingale and
Jalil Myers posted huge scoring nights to lead the Ravens to an 82-60 win over Clarks Summit in a CSAC contest up on the Northeast Extension on  Wednesday evening.
For the first time this season, Rosemont (10-12) moved above .500 in CSAC play with a 5-4 record. They are tied for the third spot with Centenary, who lost by an 83-66 margin at Keystone on Wednesday night. The Cyclones will visit Alumnae Hall next Wednesday in the Ravens final home regular season game. They remain a game back in the loss column from second place Wilson, who only has one league game left (at home against  undefeated Cairn) while both Rosemont and Centenary has three remaining.
Both the Ravens and Cyclones have three game leads in the loss column over Keystone and Bryn Athyn for the final playoff spot in the CSAC.
KEY MOMENT: Â The Ravens put the game away with an early burst in the first half. After trailing 7-2 midway early in the first half, the Ravens went on a 17-2 run of their own up until the 10 minute mark of the half which effectively created enough separation to force the Defenders into playing uphill the bulk of the night. It was a 44-22 lead at halftime and the Ravens were on their way to a third straight win and fifth in the last six games.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Blassingale had a team-high 21 points - his eighth game where he scored 20 points or more. It was his first since dropping 20 on the Defenders at home on Jan. 19. His eight rebounds were a season-high. He also had five steals on the evening.
- Myers had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Â It is his seventh double-double of the season. Myers had four steals and four assists.
-
Kahleel Henry had 11 points and 5 rebounds. He averaged 15 points a game in two contests against Clarks Summit this year.
- The Ravens shot 50 percent from the field on the night and 26-of-30 from the foul line.
UP NEXT: The Ravens head to undefeated Cairn on Saturday afternoon (5 p.m.) with an opportunity to clinch a CSAC playoff spot with a victory. They will return home next Wednesday for Senior Night against Centenary with a 8 p.m. tip scheduled at Alumnae Hall.
