ROSEMONT - It was the big inning that proved to be too much for Rosemont to overcome on Saturday afternoon in its Colonial States Athletic Conference softball season opener against Cedar Crest.
The Falcons used a 10-run third inning to roll to a 16-2 victory in Game 1 of the doubleheader at the Ravens Softball Complex. Then, Cedar Crest rallied from a run down in the seventh inning by posting eight runs in the frame en route to a 17-10 Game 2 win over Rosemont.
Rosemont did get some good offensive production in the second game after being held to three hits in the first contest, which went just five innings.
Christina Broccolino and Kayleigh Whalen connected for triples, with Whalen knocking home four RBIs. Brittany Strauss and
Samantha DeFrancisco both had two hits in Game 2-  part of the 10 hit attack for the Ravens.
Rosemont will get right back in action on Sunday when they travel to Marywood for a makeup doubleheader against the Pacers. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
