ROSEMONT - Big hitting. Big pitching. Big wins.
That's what Rosemont College had in bunches on Wednesday afternoon against Brooklyn College, pounding out 32 runs on 29 hits while only surrendering two on the afternoon during a 15-0, 17-0 doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs on a lovely spring afternoon at the Ravens softball complex.
The individual highlight of the afternoon was freshman pitcher
Taylor Carter, who threw a five-inning, 79 pitch no-hitter. Carter allowed two walks and struck out four Brooklyn hitters. That followed a strong two-hitter by
Christina Broccolino in the first game. Broccolino didn't walk anyone while striking out four on her own.
On the offensive side, the bats came alive all afternoon.
Analisa Yoder,
Emily Bingman, Brittany Strauss and Carter all had four hits combined in the doubleheader with Bingman knocking in five, Yoder four and Carter three runs.Â
Five different Ravens (
Kaileigh Whalen, Carter,
Colleen Hall, Broccolino and Strauss) had extra base hits.Â
Rosemont will enjoy a week off before it returns to action on April 4 to begin a final push towards the end of the regular season. It will start with a non-conference contest at home against Eastern University. That doubleheader will start at 3 p.m.
