ROSEMONT - Samantha DeFrancisco had five hits, two runs scored and three RBIs on Thursday as Rosemont split a twinbill with Eastern University, winning by a 16-15 score in eight innings during Game 1 before falling to the Eagles 10-2 in five innings  in the nightcap at the Ravens Softball Complex.

The freshman was one of a number of Ravens who had monster offensive performances in Game 1, which saw Rosemont pound out a season high in hits (18), RBIs (13), stolen bases (6) and doubles (3). The Ravens- who were the visitors on this day because Eastern had moved the game to Rosemont because of poor field conditions at their locations- scored four times in the top of the 7 to tie the game to force it into extra innings. Then in the eighth - with the extra inning rules in play where a runner is placed on second to start the inning- Rosemont got a two-run RBI single from DeFrancisco and an RBI single from Madison Hagerty to give them a cushion. Kaileigh Whalen added a sacrifice fly in the inning as well.

Whalen, Analisa Yoder, Brittany Strauss and DeFrancisco had three hits in Game 1. Strauss scored four runs in the opener. In the nightcap, DeFrancisco and Colleen Hall had two hits.

Rosemont is back in action on Saturday when they will travel to Cairn to face the Highlanders in a CSAC contest.
