ROSEMONT - This may have been the home finale. But the season could be far from over for the Rosemont women's lacrosse team.
The Ravens now control their own destiny for the fourth and final spot for the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs thanks to an outstanding overall team effort during a 12-4 victory over Cedar Crest on Thursday night at the Ravens Athletic Complex.
On Senior Night- where three-year performer
Brianna Clarke was honored in pre-game ceremonies for her spirit and dedication to the program- Rosemont managed to take control of the game and wrestle their playoff destiny out of Cedar Crest's hands.Â
The tiebreakers are complicated, but here's the bottom line. Rosemont (3-11 overall, 3-6 CSAC)Â advances with a win over Notre Dame next Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore. They can also advance if Cedar Crest (2-10, 2-7 CSAC) falls to Centenary in its regular season finale.Â
Since both teams have split their two meetings in the regular season, the next tiebreaker is the goals allowed in conference games if the two teams end up in a tie. Right now, the Ravens have a plus-24 edge in that area.Â
That's what made Thursday night feel like a playoff game and Rosemont had that intensity from early in the first half. A very active defensive effort helped force a ton of turnovers in the Cedar Crest end. It also allowed others to get involved in the scoring.
Holly Brady scored four times while
Emily Johnston had three tallies.
Maciana Mazzeo and
Lauren Lightcap each added two goals while
Avery Bramell added a goal and two assists on the night.
