BALTIMORE - In the end, the final game of the regular season didn't really matter for Rosemont's women's lacrosse team.
That's because it isn't really the final game after all.
Even after an 18-1 loss to Notre Dame (Md.) in the regular season finale, Rosemont earned the fourth and final Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff berth over Cedar Crest with a edge in tiebreakers.
The Ravens will travel to top seed Keystone next Wednesday to face the Giants in the CSAC semifinals at a time that will be determined. Considering that the program was forced to miss a season in 2018 due to staffing issues, it is a remarkable achievement that Rosemont has been able to get this far to begin with.
Rosemont has secured the number four seed by virtue of a tiebreaking scenario that relied on the amount of goals allowed in CSAC play. Even if Cedar Crest beats Centenary in their last game, they would finish the season with the same record as the Ravens and had split the head to head series. That moves the situation to the goals allowed tiebreaker, where Rosemont had allowed 142 in league play. Before playing Centenary, Cedar Crest had 148.
Emily Johnston scored the Ravens lone goal on Wednesday afternoon in the first half.
