ALLENTOWN - Julie Capece and
Chase Leonard continued their torrid finish to the Colonial States Athletic Conference season, winning their ninth straight singles matches on Tuesday during Rosemont's 5-4 victory over Cedar Crest in Allentown.
The Ravens finished the regular season at 7-5. The win also set a high water mark for the Ravens, who had won six matches in a season three times since 2006, which marked the end of the highly successful tenure of Joe Kessel, who went 28-9 from 1999-2005.
The Ravens finished the regular season in a three-way tie with Cedar Crest and Cairn. Cairn will take the tiebreaker and be the top seed in the CSAC Tournament on Saturday at the Legacy Tennis Complex in Philadelphia. Cedar Crest and Rosemont will meet in the one semifinal with the winner moving onto Sunday's championship match. Â The match on Saturday will be the second one of the morning and is scheduled to start somewhere around 11:30 a.m.
Capece earned a three set win over Mercedes Melo by a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 margin at No. 1 singles. Leonard took a straight set 6-1, 6-3 victory over Alyssa Epsaro.
Kelly Shaughnessy and
Erin Gallashaw each won their singles matches while the doubles team of Capece and Leonard also found a way to earn victories.
