Rosemont, PA- The men's basketball team took on the Cyclones of Centenary University in a Conference matchup on Wednesday night and won 98-84. Centenary was undefeated in Conference Play prior to this game.
Rosemont played with great energy and jumped out to an early 14-2 lead. The Ravens maintained their lead throughout the first half and led 51-34 at halftime. Rosemont shot 50% from three and made 11 threes in the first half. The Ravens relentless defense forced the Cyclones to commit 13 turnovers in the first half.
Rosemont would extend their lead in the second half and shot 22-30 from the free throw line. The Ravens extended their lead to 65-44 early in the second half. Centenary chipped away at the lead and trailed 83-73 with 4:24 left. Rosemont made clutch free throws down the stretch to close out the game. Centenary committed 22 turnovers in the game and Rosemont had 23 points off of those turnovers.
The Ravens made 14 threes in the game and shot 42% from behind the arc. Rosemont never trailed in the game.
Sophomore,
Osaze Thornton led the team with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Senior,
Perry Belcher had 16 points and 7 assists.Â
Junior,
Marlon Sharpton scored 16 points for the Ravens. Junior,
Chris Briner had 15 points and 4 steals.
Rosemont's record is now 6-12 and 3-4 in Conference Play. The Ravens will go on the road to play the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, January 25
th at 3:00 PM.
