Ravens Take Top Spot in CSAC

Rosemont, PA—The Rosemont Men's Soccer team had an outstanding performance Saturday night against Keystone College, winning the match 2-1 with 58 seconds left on the clock. Keystone headed into the match undefeated in the CSAC, but after Rosemont took the win, the Giants drop to the second spot tied with Saint Elizabeth with 9 points and the Ravens sit at the top of the conference with 10.

The Ravens held most of the possession in the first half, attacking Keystone's defense relentlessly with 6 shots and 2 corner kicks. Rosemont was awarded a Penalty Kick in the 40th minute, SO Kaiden Fields took the shot, but Keystone's goalkeeper made a tremendous save. Rosemont's defense held strong with noteworthy performances from FR Sean Rodriguez, SO Shawn-Thomas McConnell, FR Ian Dolan, and SR Captain Will Boehmer, only allowing 5 shots with Goalkeeper SO Todd Berman recording 2 saves. Both teams headed into halftime 0-0.

Once in the second half, Keystone took the lead in the 57th minute with a goal from Axel Gonzalez. The Ravens did not let the Giants goal deter them, the continued battling and tied up the match in the 75th minute with goal from JR Captain Alex Arriola, assist from SO Shawn-Thomas McConnell. Rosemont kept the momentum and secured the win in the 89th minute with goal from SO Kaiden Fields and assist from FR Clayton Crosse.

After scoring the game winner, SO Kaiden Fields said, "We came into the game knowing what we had to do. Keystone is a very talented team, and we want to prove to everyone that we are the best team in the conference. Tonight was another statement win that people simply cannot ignore. After missing the penalty kick earlier in the game, I knew I had to make it up to my teammates and used that to my advantage. As soon as I saw the ball coming towards me in the air, I already knew it was a goal. The feeling we got after a late game winner like that is honestly one of the best moments in our lives and we're ready to show the rest of the conference how hungry we are for more". With the winning assist, FR Clayton Crosse shared, "We are a strong team who looks at each other as a family. Once we all get going and play together as one, it is something amazing to watch".

Captains SR Will Boehmer and JR Alex Arriola shared their thoughts after the game; "Tonight was a great team performance and I'm happy to have beaten this team that, historically, has had our number. I'm proud to have taken control of the top spot in the conference and I'm looking forward to getting back to work on Wednesday", said Boehmer. Alex Arriola, awarded the team's "Man of the Match" said, "the team played their hearts out and we got the result. It's a milestone to make history".

With their performances, SO Kaiden Fields won CSAC Offensive Player of the Week and SO Todd Berman won CSAC Defensive Player of the Week.  The Ravens return to action this Wednesday (10/13) at home against Bryn Athyn at 7:00pm.
