Ravens Fall in Second OT to Alvernia 4-3

Reading, PA-Rosemont Men's Soccer fell to Alvernia University in the second overtime period 4-3 with only seconds left on the clock. The teams battled through inclement weather and even entered a weather delay during the second half.

The Ravens traveled to Alvernia and held most of the possession in the first half with 6 shots and 3 corner kicks. As soon as the game kicked off, SO Kaiden Fields scored in the 3rd minute with assist from FR Ian Dolan. However, the Wolves came right back to tie up the match 30 seconds later. The Ravens went into halftime up 2-1 after another goal from SO Kaiden fields and assist from FR Ian Dolan.

Once into the second half, the Wolves knocked in two goals, putting them ahead of the Ravens 3-2 in the 59th minute. Captain JR Alex Arriola tied the game 3-3 in the 65th minute with assist from SO Kaiden Fields. The match was delayed due to bad weather with roughly 15 minutes left in regulation. The teams retook the field but finished the second half tied and headed into overtime.

The Ravens and the Wolves battled through the first ten minutes of overtime but came out scoreless and sent both teams into the second overtime. Rosemont outshot Alvernia 4 to 2, but the Wolves scored the golden goal with 21 seconds left on the clock to win the game.

Overall, the Ravens had a great performance, outshooting the Wolves 22 to 15 and a strong defensive presence only requiring GK SO Todd Berman to make one save. SO Kaiden Fields performance this week with 3 goals and 2 assists earned him a spot on the CSAC Honor Roll.

The Ravens are back on the road Wednesday, October 20th, to play Saint Elizabeth University at 7:00pm.
