Bryn Mawr PA| Wilson Traveled down to Rosemont College to take on the Men's Basketball team in the United East Conference Opener that took place in Alumnae Hall.
How it Happened:
Wilson came out of the gates hot, taking the first five points of the game. Rosemont stayed right with Wilson matching with a 7-0 run of their own to take the lead in the that they would not give up the entirety of the first half. The Ravens defense was intense holding Wilson to 6-26 from the field in the first half for only 21 points. Rosemont's defensive intensity would give them the lead at the half 28-21. The seconds half, the defense would stay intense getting in the passing lanes and taking away opposing possessions. Wilson would tie the game with 9' left in the half, Rosemont would battle not letting Wilson pull away. With the game tied at 54 with 3' to go
Denelle Holly would take the lead for the Ravens with an AND ONE making the free throw for the outright lead. Wilson would take the lead by 2 with a minute remaining, Rosemont would have the ball with four seconds on the shot clock and an inbound. Coach Hughes drew up a beautiful play to get Freshman
Kelton Warren wide open underneath the hoop to tie the game with 40' remaining. Both teams would be unable to capitalize on their possessions to end the half.
The first overtime
Zaki Gomez would rattled in a 3pt to start the overtime as Wilson answered with two of their own to take the lead by three 63-60.
Dejuan Taylor would go back to back layups on possessions to take back the lead by one 64-63. Wilson would tie the game with a foul shot as the game would go to the second overtime.
The Second and Final overtime, Wilson would take a four point lead at the start but Rosemont pulled back within one with 2:45 remaining (68-67). Rosemont would make some unnecessary fouls that gave Wilson a four point lead, forcing Rosemont to play the foul game. Wilson clutched up making their foul shots down the stretch and capture the win 82-72. Rosemont was lead by
Dejuan Taylor with 18, followed by
Denelle Holly with 13 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds,
Zaki Gomez and
Jared Sullivan with 10 points.
