The Rosemont Ravens (9-7, 2-1) swept the visiting St. Elizabeth Eagles in the double-header on
Sunday, March 26 to take the opening Colonial States Athletic Conference series 2 games to 1.
The wins also put the Ravens two games above .500 for the season. Strong starting pitching in
both games set up the Ravens for success.
In Game 1, sophomore Zach Nutley pitched four strong innings as the starter. He was relieved
by
Nick Skoufalos,
Ethen Otstott (W), and
Justin Harrison (S) who combined to give up just one
run in three innings of relief.
The Ravens offense was paced by senior captains
Dominic Fernicola and
Colin McCormick,
who each had two hits. Four of the Ravens ten hits went for extra bases including a double by
McCormick,
Jamen Palladino and
Ethan Wood. The final extra base hit was a pinch-hit solo
home run by
David McKinney.
McKinney led the way for the Ravens in game two, this time on the mound though. He went 5
strong innings, scattering 5 hits and striking out 4 batters. Freshman right-handed pitcher
Patrick McCallister earned the two-inning save by pitching scoreless 6th and 7th innings. Seven
different Raven hitters had hits in game two, including doubles by Palladino,
Derek Shillingsford, and a triple by Fernicola.
The Ravens next travel to Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday, March 28 th for a 6:00pm game at the
Camden Athletic Complex. The team then travels to Wilson for its next CSAC contest on
Friday, March 31st before hosting the Phoenix for a double-header on Saturday, April 1 st at
