Game 1: Bingman's Walk-off Gives Rosemont the Victory Over St. E
It came down to the wire in game one of Friday's DH, with the Ravens taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single by Captain
Emily Bingman. The Ravens were down a run coming up to bat in the bottom of the seventh.
Tianna Ortiz laced a single through the right side to start the comeback.
Jade Gomez-Chavarria fought off St. E's pitcher, Kami Degaetani, and sent a short fly ball into no-man's land in shallow center. Lo Begg slapped a single through the 5-6 hole, scoring Ortiz to tie the game. Gomez-Chavarria advanced to third drawing a throw, and Begg advanced to second. And once again, Captain Bingman came to the plate, this time with runners in scoring position and no outs. She fought the count to 3-2 and effortlessly pushed a line drive to RF, scoring Gomez-Chavarria for the game winning walk-off (the second in two games).
Lauren Begg (6-6) had command of the circle for Rosemont. Lo went seven complete innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk.
Rosemont racked up ten hits in the game. Begg (2 for 4, 2B, 1B, SB),
Jade Gomez-Chavarria (2 for 4: 1B, 1B, 2 SB), and Bingman (2 for 3: 3B, 1B, GWRBI) notched her second game-winning RBI in tback to back games. Each had two hits to lead Rosemont to victory. Gomez-Chavarria was particularly stellar in CF, for the second time in two days, she tracked down two highlight-worthy catches (Willie Mays-esque!) deep in right center field!
Game 2: Lauren Begg Drives in Four to Seal the Victory Over St. Elizabeth
Rosemont defeats St. Elizabeth convincingly in game two by the score of 10-3. The Ravens came out swinging in the first inning. Leadoff,
Jade Gomez-Chavarria ripped a single to Right. Lo Begg played smallball slapping a slow roller to SS while Gomez-Chavarria was running on the pitch. Captain
Analisa Yoder singled on a 3-1 count, scoring both for two runs.
Olivia Hamme smoked a double to right center and Captain
Emily Bingman laid down a sac to score Yoder, who advanced to third when Hamme doubled. Begg drove in four runs in game two.
Tianna Ortiz and Gomez-Chavarria each scored a run in the 2
nd and 4
th innings respectively. The Ravens batted around in the 6
th adding 4 more runs as St. E's pitcher lost command hitting 3 batters and walking another. Begg, Hamme, and
Sylvana DiRuggieri each had a single to drive in runs bring the total to 10 and Bingman's RBI would prove to be the game winner ...
again.
Dani Sharpe (6-5) earned another complete game victory in the pitcher's circle for the Ravens. Sharpe threw a solid seven innings, allowing just five hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one.
K Mccarthy was in the circle for Saint Elizabeth. She surrendered 10 runs on 11 hits, walking one and hitting four batters, three of them in the 6th. Gomez-Chavarria, Begg, and Hamme all managed two hits each in leading the Raven's offense in game two. With the sweep, the Ravens move into 1
st place in the CSAC with Cedar Crest up next, who split with St. E's on Easter Saturday. Go Ravens!
