Game Recap: Baseball | | M. Denton

Baseball Ends Solid Season at Keystone

The Rosemont Ravens (15-20, 7-11) dropped the last two regular season games of the season at Keystone College 14-6 and 9-4 on Saturday, May 6th.  The losses dropped the Ravens into 5th place in the conference and eliminated the team from the playoffs. Sophomore Zach Nutley started on the mound in Game 1.  He struck out two batters and 3.2 innings.  Fellow sophomore David McKinney was the starting pitcher in Game 2. Senior captain Michael Denton threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Ravens got two hit performances during Game 1 from infielder Samson Gerner and right fielder Connor Cook. Senior Captain Dominic Fernicola had a hit and two RBI in the game, while first baseman Ethan Wood had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Connor Cook continued his strong day at the plate in Game 2. He had two more hits and an RBI.  Sophomore designated hitter Derek Shillingsford also had two hits and an RBI. Wood and freshman third baseman Nick Skoufalos each had doubles.

Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg had this to say after the game: "I am extremely proud of this team.  These players accomplished so much on the field individually and as a team. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to coach this group this year. I sincerely really enjoyed coaching this team.  Though it is always tough to see a season come to an end, I am already excited about what the 2024 Rosemont Ravens can do.  I told the guys after the game that they can take tomorrow off, but they should start preparing for next season on Monday.  Knowing these guys, they will take that message to heart."

The Ravens 15 wins in their second season as a program was a great improvement over the 6 wins during the 2022 inaugural season.  More post season wrap-up information and individual recognitions with be shared on the Rosemont Athletics website, as well the baseball team's Twitter (@RosemontBase) and Instagram (@rosemontbaseball) accounts.
