Rosemont, PA| Women's Volleyball hosted Saint Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday October 9th on Dig Pink Night.
How it Happened:
The Hirsh community center was decked out in Pink as the Ravens set off in their United East Matchup versus the Saint Mary's Seahawks.
The first set the Ravens and Seahawks went back and forth early in the set, with the Ravens grabbing different leads at 3-2 and extending to 7-4 and 11-9. Key points coming from kills by
Pearl Smith and
Shenan Jackson. The Seahawks would go on a run to take a 11-20 lead over the ravens as they would capture the set but not before the Ravens made the set 24-17 before the Seahawks would officially take the first set 25-17.Â
The second set the Ravens would fall behind early 7-2 but rally with a kill by
Madeline McCarthy to cut the Seahwaks lead to three (8-5). Saint Mary's would go on a 13-1 run to take a 21-6 lead in the set. The ravens did not give up as they fought through the end of the set as the Seahawks took a 2-0 advantage after the 25-11 set.Â
The third and final set the Seahawks would again jump out on the ravens taking an early 5-0 lead before the ladies would fight back with a 3-0 run of their own cutting the Seahawks lead to two (5-3). Runs from Saint Mary's interrupted by a Rosemont point would be the story of the third set as the Ravens would fall in straight sets to the Seahawks.
