Florham Park, NJ| The Ravens Traveled to Florham park to take on the saint Elizabeth Eagles in the Second Game of the Ravens Vs. Eagles Doubleheader.
How it Happened: Starting for the Ravens was #1 Zaki Gomez, #2 Bruce Black, #11 Denelle Holly, #24 Jared Sullivan, and #30 Brian Mordi.
The Ravens would get out to a slow start falling behind to start the contest.
Jared Sullivan would get the scoring started for the Ravens with a layup followed by layups from
Denelle Holly.
Bruce Black would tie the game at 13-13 with a mid-range jumper. battling through the first half the Ravens would take the lead by one with a free throw from
Brian Mordi,
Chris Taylor would extend the ravens lead to five with a three pointer. The Eagles would go on a 7-0 run to end the half and take the lead back from the Ravens.
The second half the ravens would get out to an early lead with a layup from
Zaki Gomez and a three pointer from
Denelle Holly. The ravens defense would do a phenomenal job of shutting down the Eagles bench scoring holding them to zero points in the second half. The Ravens would find themselves trailing by nine points 59-50 with 4:15 remaining in the contest.
Zaki Gomez would make a three pointer assisted by
Bruce Black to cut the Eagles lead to six. The Ravens would get a stop as
Denelle Holly would find the rebound, a give and go with
Zaki Gomez would find another open three as Holly cut the eagles lead to three points with 2:56 remaining. The Ravens would trail by five with 1:16 remaining after a technical foul from
Bruce Black.
Zaki Gomez would make two clutch free throws to cut the lead back to three points (61-64). Gomez would make a layup with :23 remaining as the Ravens trailed by one (63-64). The Ravens would foul and the Eagles would miss both free throws leaving the door open for the Ravens. Coach McGee would call a timeout with five second remaining.
Chris Taylor would inbound to
Denelle Holly, driving to the the basket through contact, Holly would give the Ravens the lead with 0.9 seconds remaining. The Ravens would hold on for their first victory of the year defeating the Eagles 65-64.
Coach McGee said "It is the Rocky Balboa mentality, when the team was down nine under five minutes. Those are not easy situations, I am stoked that the team was able to scrap and fight for each other and get the win as a team."

The Ravens will host Valley Forge University on Monday December 2nd, at 8pm for the second game of the Ravens doubleheader in Alumnae Hall as they seek for back-to-back wins.
