Ravens Drop Two Tough Ones to PSU Scranton.

Rain and Winds Caused for a Wet One at Devon Preparatory School

The Ravens (0-8) took 2 hard-fought losses to PSU Scranton (3-4). The final was 6-5 in Game 1 and 16-10 in Game 2.

Junior David McKinney got the start on the bump for Game 1 and had a strong outing. He pitched 5 innings giving up just 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out one batter. This was followed by 1.1 innings of 2-run baseball from sophomore Nicholas Skoufalos, who also added a strikeout. On the offensive side, the Ravens were led by junior Connor Cook who mashed a double into the gap in left-center field. He was later scored on an RBI single by senior Sean Smith, who collected 2 hits and a stolen base in the game. Another offensive highlight came from sophomore Brandon Peake who collected a hit and RBI.

Game 2 was started by senior pitcher Ethen Otstott, who threw 3 innings of 2 run baseball and added a strikeout. Offensively the Ravens exploded for 8 hits and were led by juniors Luke Franklin and David McKinney. Franklin had 2 hits and McKinney had a 2 RBI double. McKinney also notched a third RBI with a sac Fly in the 4th inning. Junior Connor Cook also recorded a double and RBI. Junior Samson Gerner also notched a hit and a sac fly RBI during the contest. This game was called after 5 innings due to darkness.

Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg said after the games: "I am very proud of our team battling through the elements. Our offense found some traction in Game 1 and continued into Game 2. Seeing Luke Franklin and David McKinney get some good swings off in Game 2 is certainly encouraging. We were also in a position to win both games because of the quality starts we got on the mound by David in Game 1 and Ethen in Game 2." Coach Trachtenberg continued: "I am excited that our team gets to take the field again tomorrow."

The Ravens host PSU Scranton for a double-header again on Sunday, March 10th at Devon Prep. The first pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for noon.
