The Ravens (7-20) could not enact revenge on the Eagles of Eastern (13-18), sadly losing 9-4.
Offensively for the Ravens, it was a tough day at the plate, only totaling 5 hits as a unit. Freshmen Shane Lennon contributed to the hit total with a double off the left-center field wall. Lennon would go 1 for 4 on the day. Junior Dom Younger also contributed a double in his efforts going 1 for 1 with 2 walks on the day. Junior Chris Walton and sophomore Chase Masten might not have tallied a hit in the ball game, but they did contribute to 3 of the Ravens 4 runs. Walton had 2 plate appearances end in RBIs with an RBI sac fly in the second inning and an RBI ground out in the 8th inning. Masten notched an RBI when he was plunked in the back in a bases-loaded situation. His hit by pitch scored graduate student Dominic Fernicola who reached base thanks to a walk earlier in the inning. Fernicola would also go 1 for 4 on the day with a single. Junior Jamen Palladino and sophomore Brandon Peake each added to the Ravens' hit total, both going 1 for 3 on the day.
Starting on the bump for the Ravens was junior Justin Harrison who tossed strong 3 innings in his season debut as a starter. Harrison allowed 3 runs (1 unearned) on 5 hits and 2 strikeouts. Senior Ethen Otstott came out of the bullpen in relief and tossed 2 scoreless innings, only allowing 3 hits, and notching 1 strikeout.
The Ravens need a short-term memory to bounce back as they play the Knights of Neumann University tomorrow, April 17th. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm under the lights at Heuser Park for this non-conference match-up.
