La Plume, PA| Rosemont Traveled to Keystone to Take on the Giants in an United East Matchup.
How it Happened:Â
Game 1: Taking the rubber for the Ravens was
Lauren Begg looking to improve on her great start to conference play. Top of the first
Kendyll Strohl worked a walk but the Ravens were unable to drive her home. Bottom of the inning the Giants laided down a bunt on the first batter, but Rosemont was able to manage, catching the runner stealing and getting a strikout and pop out to end the inning.
Top of the second
Kylee Kubitschek and
Shona Willoughby found singles, but with two outs the Ravens stranded the runners on base. Bottom of the inning Begg found a quick 1-2-3 with her defense helping behind her.Â
Top of the third Lauren started the inning with a triple, as she was forced out on a play at the plate. With two outs
Analisa Yoder stuck out but was able to reach on a ball int he dirt moving Strohl to second,
Allison Goodman singled driving in Strohl from second to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead. Bottom of the inning Begg found another 1-2-3 with two strikeouts.
Top of the fourth Rosemont followed with a 1-2-3 on balls all put in play making the Keystone defense work for the outs. Bottom of the fourth Begg forced two quick outs, but gave up back to back singles. With two outs Begg forced a grounder back to her getting out of the inning.
Top five Begg reached on an error, followed by Strohl reaching on another error allowing Begg to score from second. With Strohl on second the Ravens were unable to drive here home leaving the running stranded heading into the bottom of the inning. Bottom five Begg went 1-2-3 with a strikeout and two ground outs.
Top of the sixth Rosemont went 1-2-3 followed by a 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning for Keystone. Top of the seventh Begg singled, with smart base running she was able to score on a throwing error to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead headed to bottom seven. Begg came in to close out the game allowing a single but managing forcing ground outs to get out of the inning and capture the win for the Ravens.
Game 2:Â
Cheyanne Willoughby took the mound for the Ravens as they set out to to win game two of this double header.
Top of the first the Ravens got the bats hot early as
Lauren Begg bunted a single followed by
Kendyll Strohl who singled into center driving in Lauren on an error.
Emily Bingman singled putting Strohl on third, as Bingman stole second.
Analisa Yoder grounded out but drive in Stohl and put Bingman in scoring position.
Allison Goodman would strikeout followed by a Walk by
Bailee Greise. Bringing up
Kylee Kubitschek, would would reach on an error driving in Bingman to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead. Bottom of the inning Willoughby would find two quick outs but then give up back to back singles. She would find her was out of the jam with a ground ball to end the inning.
Top of the second
Ryli Kifolo drew a walk followed by
Lauren Begg getting hit by a pitch.
Kendyll Strohl would double into the right field gap scoring both runners.
Emily Bingman would follow with another single to drive in Strohl giving the Ravens a 6-0 lead. Bottom of the inning The Giants would answer with a run own, but the Ravens were able to limit the damage as Willooughby got out the inning with a strikeout.
Top of the third Rosemont struck out twice going 1-2-3. Bottom of the inning Cheyanne would allow a single but then get three quick outs with the help of her defense to end the inning.Â
Top of the fourth the Ravens were able to tack on another run as Begg reached on an error and with heads up base running was able to score on a sacrifice fly extending their lead to 7-1. Bottom of the inning Willoughby found herself in a small jam with runners on first and second with one out. The Ravens were able to force a double play only allowing one run in the inning closing up the fourth 7-2.
Top of the fifth
Allison Goodman singled to lead of the inning but the Ravens left her stranded going to the bottom of the inning. Cheyanne Willoghby would start the bottom of the fourth for the Ravens as she was hit around slightly allowing two runs to score before LAuren Begg came in to pitch for the Ravens. She would go 1-2-3 on balls in play to get the Ravens out of the inning as Keystone pulled within three 7-4.Â
Top of the sixth Begg singled and stole second as
Emily Bingman was able to drive her in with a single to extend the Ravens lead 8-4. The Ravens were unable to drive her home headed to the bottom of the inning. Begg would allow a lead off single but with the help of her defense she would force a strikeout and a couple ground balls to get out of the inning.
Top of the seventh
Ryli Kifolo was hit by a pitch followed by a single by Begg. But with two outs the Ravens were unable to score anymore insurance runs. Bottom seven Begg out find herself in a small jab allowing a few hits and a run to score, but with the help of her defense the Ravens were able to hold on to win 8-5.
What's Next:
The Ravens will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to take on the Notre Dame Gators on their home field in a double header starting at 11am. Go Ravens!
