The Rosemont Ravens (8-22) earned a much-needed win today against in conference opponent Valley Forge (8-23), walking it off in the bottom of the 9th on a wild pitch. It was a back-and-forth battle that went down to the wire. Starting on the mound for the Ravens was Mr. Reliable, junior David McKinney, who tossed strong 5 innings, allowing 2 runs (0 earned), on 4 hits, while striking out 3. Relieving him of his pitching duties was senior Ethen Otstott who tossed 3 gritty innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits while collecting 3 strikeouts in the process. Sophomore Patrick McCallister got the W for getting two outs in the 9th, allowing the Ravens the chance to win it in the 9th.
On his performance today David McKinney had this to note, "I went into my pen this week and felt good, then got in the game, and felt good. Probably the best I felt all season. My stuff was working, and it went my way."
Offensively for the Ravens, the bats were hot as The Flock collected 10 hits as a unit, with 2 Ravens having multi-hit games. Junior Jamen Palladino led the Ravens going 4 for 5 on the day with 2 RBIs. He also scored once, that being the game winning run on a passed ball in the bottom half of the 9th. Starting pitcher David McKinney was able to help himself out at the plate going 2 for 5 with an RBI to accompany his fine outing on the bump. Juniors Chris Walton and Samson Gerner also contributed to the Ravens hit total with Walton going 1 for 3 with an RBI and Gerner going 1 for 4 on the day. Senior Sean Smith was also able to keep his hot bat going hitting a double and going 1 for 4 on the day.
The Ravens set out on the road on Saturday, April 20th at Valley Forge in Games 2 and 3 of the three-game conference series. The first pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 12:00pm and with Game 2 to follow. The games are being played at Sanatoga Park Fields in Pottstown, PA.
