Bryn Mawr, PA| Cairn University Traveled to Rosemont to take on the Ravens in their First Home Game of the Year.
How it Happened:
Game 1: Lauren Begg took the mound for the Ravens as they start their conference play in the United East Conference versus Cairn University. Lauren would go 1-2-3 to start the top of the first inning including a strikeout. The Ravens bats got hot early as
Emily Bingman drove in
Lauren Begg for the first run of the game. The ravens worked counts with two outs to load the bases bringing up
Olivia Hamme who reached on an error and driving in two runs, followed by a double by
Bailee Greise to drive in two more runs giving the Ravens a 5-0 lead. Top of the second Lauren would go 1-2-3 again with another strikeout. Bottom of the second inning
Lauren Begg would single followed by a walk by
Kendyll Strohl but the Ravens were unable to drive them in as the score stayed 5-0. Top of the third Lauren would find another 1-2-3 inning adding on another strikeout bringing her total to three for the game. Bottom on the third inning the Ravens would put the ball in play but Cairns defense would hold the ravens to 5-0. Top of the 4th
Lauren Begg would continue to pitch well, forcing weak contact and adding another strikeout to her total keeping the score at 5-0. Bottom of the fourth
Bailee Greise would start off the inning with a walk, followed by a fielders choice by Slyvanna DiRuggieri that got Greise out at 2nd.
Lauren Begg would single and DiRuggieri would score on a throwing error giving the Ravens a 6-0 lead. Next at bat
Kendyll Strohl would double over the center fielders head driving in Begg making the lead 7-0.
Emily Bingman would single followed by
Alicia Gotts with another single that would load the bases for the Ravens with one out.
Analisa Yoder would ground into a fielders choice, getting the force play with Strohl out at home. The next at bat
Allison Goodman would draw a walk and drive in a run giving the Ravens an 8-0 lead.Top of the fifth
Lauren Begg would find a ground out and two strikeouts to end the game by mercy rule 8-0.
Game 2: Alicia Gotts would take the mound for the Ravens to Start Game two. the top of the first inning Cairn would start off the game with a single, but Gotts forced weak contact and got out of the inning in the next three batters with balls in play. Bottom of the first
Kendyll Strohl would keep the bats going for the Ravens as she ripped a double into the gap as she scored on an error by the catcher. Emily Bingham would single, but two weak contact balls ended the inning for the Ravens as they took a 1-0 at the end of the first inning. The second inning Gotts would find a 1-2-3 inning striking out the first two batters she faced, and forcing weak contact to the second baseman for the third out. Bottom of the second inning Allison goodman would single and steal second followed by a walk by
Olivia Hamme putting runners on first and second. DiRuggueri would ground into a fielders choice as Goodman was out on the force play at third. The Ravens had two outs when
Lauren Begg doubled into the outfield scoring Hamme as DiRuggieri held at 3rd. Next at bat
Kendyll Strohl would drive her in with a single giving the Ravens a 3-0 lead after the second inning. Top of the third inning Gotts would have another 1-2-3 inning striking out two more batters. Bottom of the third and fourth Inning is where Rosemont was able to get the bats hot again and string a series of hits together. With two ground outs to start the third inning,
Analisa Yoder singled followed by an
Allison Goodman single, as Yoder would score on a error by third base.
Olivia Hamme would single moving Goodman to score on another error by third base. Slyvanna DiRuggieri singled, and
Olivia Hamme scored on an error by first base. DiRuggieri would be caught trying to steal second on the first pitch of the next at bat. Top of the fourth inning, Gotts would go 1-2-3 with another two strikeouts! Bottom of the fourth inning
Ryli Kifolo would lead off with a double followed by a single by
Lauren Begg moving Ryli to third.
Kendyll Strohl would double driving in two runs followed by
Emily Bingman with another double bringing Strohl into score.
Shona Willoughby would pinch hit for Gotts grounding out moving Bingman to third. Bringing up
Analisa Yoder who doubled as Bingman scored.
Allison Goodman would ground out moving the runner over for
Olivia Hamme who singled into the gap driving home Yoder. This sequence gave the Ravens an 11-0 lead going into the top of the 5th inning where
Alicia Gotts would re-enter to pitch, she would allow a single, the strike out three in a row looking as the Ravens held on to win 11-0.
