Ravens Split with Defenders in Thrilling Fashion Moving to 3-1 In United East

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bryn Mawr, PA| The Defenders Traveled to Rosemont College to Take on the Ravens in an United East Conference Matchup.

How it Happened:

Game 1:
Alicia Gotts took the rubber for the Rosemont Ravens to kick off the double header versus the Clarks Summit Defenders. Top of the first, Gotts got started with a quick ground out to 2nd. She allowed one hit in the inning with the help of her defense she was able to get out unscathed as the Ravens went up to hit. Lauren Begg lead off with a single but was caught stealing trying to get into scoring position. As Kendyll Strohl and Emily Bingman struck out to end the inning.
Top of the second the Ravens had an error as they allowed a run to score, but Gotts was able to strike out the last 2 batters to limit the damage. Bottom of the inning, the Ravens tied up the game as Analisa Yoder singled with one out. Bringing up Allison Goodman who hit a triple into the right field gap, scoring Yoder, but the Ravens were unable to bring Goodman home.
Top of the Third with the score tied 1-1, Clarks Summit scored early on a triple and passed ball. Gotts responded with 2 more strikeouts and a ground out to bring up the Ravens. Bottom of the inning Slyvana DiRuggieri ground out followed by another ground out by Lauren Begg. Kendyll Strohl was hit by a pitch followed by Emily Bingman who struck out on a pitch on the paint.
Top of the fourth Gotts was hit around as the Ravens allowed another run before Changing pitchers bringing in Cheyanne Willoughby. With runners on, the Ravens worked with what they had and were able to get a force play at home to save a run as the Defenders tacked on four runs in the inning. Making the score 6-1. Bottom of the inning Allison Goodman was able to find the gap for a single but left on base the Ravens moved to the top of the fifth. 
Top five Willoughby struck out the first batter she faced, followed by a single, then another strikeout. With the bases loaded Cheyanne was able to get out of the jam forcing a ground out. Bottom of the inning Lauren Begg singled but the Ravens were unable to drive her home as the game one moved to the top of the sixth. 
Cheyanne Willoughby would go 1-2-3 with two strikeouts bringing up the Ravens. Bottom of the inning Ravens would put three balls in play but were unable to get a runner on base.
Top of the seventh Willoughby got two quick outs but the Ravens allowed a base runner on an error. Willoughby managed and was able to force a popup to bring up the Ravens. Bottom seven Ravens were unable to score as the game ended 6-1 Clarks Summit.
Game 2: Lauren Begg on the mound for the Ravens for the second game of the double header. She would start the top of the first inning 1-2-3 with a strikeout. Bottom of the first Kendyll Strohl would single with one out bringing up Emily Bingman who popped out to center field. Analisa Yoder would work a count as Strohl stole second. Yoder would single putting runners on the corners. Allison Goodman had a great at bat but was unable to bring in the runners moving to the second inning.
Top two Begg allowed a single, but forced a put out at second in a fielders choice. With runners on first and second after a walk, a ground ball to Allsion Goodman at third base would get the lead runner. Begg found a strikeout for the third out freezing the batter looking. Bottom of the inning Ryli Kifolo was hit by a pitch with one out but the Ravens were unable to drive her home.
Top of the third Begg would force a strike out, and get a quick second out on a grounder back to her. After walking the next batter, Emily Bingman would make a great throw to catch her trying to steal second to move to the bottom of the inning. Lauren Begg would reach on an error, then steal second with one out. Emily Bingman would single putting runners on the corners with one out. Bingman would steal second as Begg would score on a throwing error, moving Bingman to third. Analisa Yoder would single driving in another run. Allison Goodman would single moving Yoder over to third base and Goodman would move to second on the throw. Olivia Hamme would keep the hit parade going as she single driving in another run for the Ravens. Goodman would score on a throwing error as the Ravens closed out the third 4-0.
Top of the fourth the defenders bats got hot as Begg allowed back to back singles. A sacrifice fly to Slyvana DiRuggieri would drive in the first run for the Defenders. Begg was able to find her way out of the inning with the help of her defense bringing up the hot bats of the Ravens. Lauren Begg would triple with one out, as Strohl pop out to center. Two down Emily Bingman would hammer a double driving in Begg; followed by another double by Analisa Yoder driving in Bingman. Tacking on two more for the Ravens they lead moving to the top of the fifth 6-1. 
Top five Begg would allow 3 hits, with an error in the inning the Ravens would let in two runs tightening the game 6-3. Bottom of the fifth was a thriller, with one out Kylee Kubitsche would draw a walk, as Bailee Greise would pinch hit for Slyvana DiRuggieri. Greise would hammer a double into the outfield gap bringing in Kubitsche from first putting the Ravens up 7-3. DiRuggieri would re-enter and run for Greise, bringing up Lauren Begg would would reach on an error by the shortstop. Kendyll Strohl would get hit by a pitch loading the bases for Emily Bingman with one out. Bingman would pull a ball high down the left field line as it found the left side of the foul pole for a Grand Slam to win the game by mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth 11-3.

The Ravens will take on Wilson at the Rosemont Athletic Complex this Saturday April 13th in a double header versus the Phoenix. Go Ravens!
