Newark, NJ| Rosemont's Women's Volleyball Traveled to Rutgers-Newark to cpmpete in a Tri-Match with the Saint Elizabeth Eagles and the Scarlet Raptors.
How it Happened:
Game 1:
Rosemont would fall behind early in the first set but would fnd their footing with a 9-3 run to bring the Ravens within three at 18-15,
Shenan Jackson would have a momentum shifting kill to lead the run. the Scarlet Raptors would close out the set 25-15.Â
The second set the Ravens would get out to an early 2-0 lead with back to back services Aces by
Fiona Hyland, but the Scarlet Raptors would answer with a 16-4 run to take an advantage in the set 16-6. A kill by
Madeline McCarthy would ive the Ravens some momentum as they would storm back in the set and trail by 5 with three service aces by
Fiona Hyland. The Scarlet Raptors would lead 24-15 but a kill by Jana Enhot would give the Ravens some life as the would go on a four point run before Rutgers would close out the set 25-19. The third set Rutgers-Newark would find a groove and win the set 25-12.
Fiona Hyland would have six service aces in the contest,
Shenan Jackson would also have ten digs.
Game 2:
Rosemont would take on Saint Elizabeth University in the second match at Rutgers-Newark.Â
The Ravens struggled to find a groove early in the first two sets a the Eagles went on multiple runs to stunt the Rosemont offense. Trailing 2-0 sets, the Ravens would open up the third set with a 4-0 run with two
Fiona Hyland service aces. The Eagles would respond wit a run of their own, but the ravens did not give up as a
Madeline McCarthy service ace would shift momentum for the Ravens as they would go on a run to recapture the lead over the Eagles 15-11 with a kill by
Maria Harrison. The Eagles would go on a long run to win the third set 25-17, but the Ravens showed good moments throughout the game.
What's Next:
Rosemont will take on Penn State Abington at Home in the Hirsh Community Center at 6pm Tuesday September 24th as they look to capture their first win at home. Go Ravens!
