Rosemont, PA| The Rosemont Ravens Men's Basketball Team Welcomed The United States Merchant Marine Academy to Alumnae Hall for a Non-Conference Match up. Coach McGee and The Ravens honored former teammate Mekhi Clemons, who passed away September 22, 2022. Welcoming his family and teammates during a halftime ceremony.

Rosemont made changes to their starting lineup, returning was #1 Zaki Gomez, #2 Ty Jones, and #5 Robert Sukaly, Coach McGee added #11 Jaylen Mason and #12 Tyler Jackson to round off the five.

How it Happened: 

    The Ravens won the tip but the Ravens offense struggled early as The Marines grew a four point lead early in the contest. Zaki Gomez would find an open Brand Moore for three followed by a jumper by Chris Taylor also assisted by Gomez to give the Ravens their first lead of the game. Rosemonts early pressure forced turnovers by the Marines as the Ravens led by three points at the ten minute mark.

    A small run by the Marines would give them the lead before Tyler Jackson got a steal and drilled a three on the other end. Zaki Gomez would follow with another three followed by Robert Sukaly for another three to put Rosemont up five. Three's would continue to rain for Rosemont as Brandon Moore added another for the Ravens putting them up eight with two minutes remaining in the first half. A run by the Marines would close the Ravens lead as they led 32-31 entering half. Coming out of the half Rosemont would go back to their starters to start the second. Zaki Gomez would find Jaylen Mason to keep the three train rolling coming out of the half. The Ravens and Marines would go back and forth through the start of the second half. Dallas wilder would give the Ravens some momentum hitting a stop and pop jumper on the baseline followed by a layup by Ty Jones giving them a five point lead with eleven minutes remaining.
    
The Marines did not go away as they crawled back, slowing down the Ravens offense, taking the lead 52-56. Rosemont did not give up as Brandon Moore got to the rim for a tough bucket followed by another layup by Zaki Gomez. Ty Jones gave the Ravens the lead back with a giant three and a minute forty six remaining. A basket on the other end for the Marines gave them the lead back before Ty Jones responded driving into the lane for a layup, forcing a timeout with a minute remaining. A missed layup by the Marines secured by Chris Taylor sent him to the line with 41 seconds left putting the Ravens up three. Coach McGee implemented the "no threes" strategy allowing a layup inside for the Marines. Zaki Gomez got to the line the following possession to put the Ravens back up three with twenty seconds remaining. Brandon Moore would ice the game for Rosemont at the line securing their first win in Alumnae Hall this season 66-62. 

Rosemont was lead by Zaki Gomez with 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

The Ravens will be on the road December 21st as they travel to Annapolis Maryland to take on Navy in Alumni Hall at 12:00PM. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and livestats will be available on our website. Go Ravens!
