Rosemont, PA| The Rosemont Ravens Welcomed University of Valley Forge and York College (NY) for a Tri-Match in the Hirsh Community Center.
How it Happened:
Game One:
The Ravens welcomed the Patriots of Valley Forge to the Hirsh Community Center for game one of three of the day. Rosemont would get on the board first as
Mikalya Moffatt would find a kill assisted by
Lori Shorten. Battling through the first set, the Patriots and Ravens would trade points until
Pearl Smith would serve three straight service aces to give the Ravens a 12-9 lead. Rosemont would continue to hold the lead through the first set until Valley Forge rallied to round off the set 11-3 to capture the first set 21-25 over the Ravens.
In the second set Mikayla Moffatt would lead off with an Ace for the Ravens, but this was their only lead of the set as Valley Forge would stack points early. Rosemont would battle at the end of the set finding kills from
Pearl Smith,
Cameryn Roach, and
Mikalya Moffatt. but their efforts were not enough as Valley Forge took a 2-0 set lead over the Ravens.
In the third set a kill by
Pearl Smith would get the Ravens on the board early, but five straight points from the Patriots would catapult them into the lead. Rosemont would respond with three straight points of their own. Trading points through the middle of the third set Rosemont would keep it close (12-9) before Valley build a steady lead. The Ravens would respond strongly winning 9 of the last 14 points but their efforts were not enough as the Ravens fall to the Patriots 0-3.
In the second game of the Tri-Match Valley Forge University "hosted" York (NY)/ Valley Forge would win the first two sets, York would win the third set. Followed by the fourth set won by Valley Forge to win the game 3-1.
Game Three:
The Ravens would get off to a slow start versus the Cardinals as
Mya Hanford would find Rosemonts first kill assisted by
Mikalya Moffatt to bring them within three (3-6). York would pull ahead early with a run until
Pearl Smith would shift momentum with a kill assisted by
Mikalya Moffatt. A Kill by
Cameryn Roach and another by
Pearl Smith would give the Ravens momentum but the Cardinals would capture the first set 25-10.
In the second set,
Pearl Smith would get the Ravens on the board first with a kill assisted by
Mikalya Moffatt. The Cardinals would rip off four straight points to capture the lead, but Rosemont would respond with a run of their own.
Pearl Smith would lead the charge with a kill assisted by
Mikalya Moffatt to capture the serve following with a Ace, and a kill by
Cameryn Roach assisted by
Mikalya Moffatt. This would give the Ravens a 9-5 lead early forcing a timeout from the York coach. The Ravens would hold the lead (12-9) before the Cardinals would go on a 11-1 run to take a large lead over the Ravens, taking the second set 25-17.
Rosemont would come out string in the third set as
Pearl Smith would smash down a kill giving the Ravens an early 2-1 lead. Both teams would trade points back to back as the Ravens held the lead 13-12, before York would go on a five point run to take the lead. Rosemont would respond bringing the score within two points (18-20) rallying off of
Pearl Smith and her two kills both assisted by
Lori Shorten. The Cardinals would clean up the third set as the Ravens lose the battle of the birds 0-3.

Rosemont will be back in the Hirsh Community Center on Thursday September 18th as they welcome Centernary University of New Jersey. The game will start at 7:00pm, Go Ravens!
