King of Prussia, PA| The Rosemont Baseball Program Welcomed Notre Dame of Maryland to Heuser Park for a United East Doubleheader.
How it Happened:
Carson Pence got the start for Rosemont in Game 1.
Working through the first two innings clean, an unearned run scored in the third as the Ravens trailed 0-1. Pence continued to work through the fifth allowing only one more run giving the Rosemont offense time to warm up.
Terrell Robinson led off with a single, followed by an RBI double by
Ryan Bowman, cutting the deficit to 1.
The Gators got to Pence in the sixth as they took a five-run lead, bringing in
Justin Gonzalez to get the final out of the inning. Gonzalez pitched phenomenally, trusting his defense to get through the eighth clean, keeping Rosemont in the game. The Ravens gave up four runs in the top of the ninth as they were defeated in game on 2-10.
In the second game, Patrick McCallister got the start for Rosemont.
McCallister, striking out his first batter and getting through one clean, gave the Ravens early momentum. Masten reached via error, while Bentivegna followed with a single.
Isaac Bugman continued to stay hot with an RBI single to to them on the board.
Terrell Robinson ripped an RBI single to center scoring two more, giving the Ravens a 3-0 lead. The Ravens defense worked for McCallister, as
Isaac Bugman said no to any bunts tried down the third baseline. Robinson ripped a gapper to left center for an RBI with two outs in the third, starting a late rally, allowing Bowman to drive him in with a single of his own.
McCallister was clean through the fifth, allowing the Ravens to build a 5-0 lead. The Gators scored four in the six the cut the lead to one. Rosemont responded in the bottom of the inning, expanding their lead back to four runs. In the top of the seventh, the Gators tallied five runs on three hits to take the lead. The Ravens did not put their heads down as they got back to work, scoring four in the eighth to recapture the lead. Notre Dame tied it back up in the eighth at twelve a piece. Rosemont was unable to capture the magic as they fell to the Gators 12-13.
