The Rosemont Baseball team traveled to Aston to take on the Neumann Knights in a non-conference doubleheader. The Ravens lost Game 1 8-1 but bounced back to take the second game 11-8.
Graduate student
Alex Rausch got the start in Game 1. He went two strong innings, allowing just 1 run and striking out 1. The Ravens' offense struggled to get any traction until the 6
th inning when they plated their only run of the game. Sophomore Issac Bugman led off the inning with a single.
Terrell Robinson and
Gisella Schiano drew walks to load the bases for
Brody Lykes. On a 2-2 pitch, Lykes was hit by a pitch to plate the lone run of the game.
The Ravens' offense got on the board in Game 2 in the first inning. Freshman first baseman
Tahj Wilson singled in Bugman, after Bugman reached on a single of his own. The story of the game was about sophomore southpaw
Anthony Galli who went 6.1 innings as the starting pitcher. He surrendered runs in the 2
nd and 3
rd before pitching three scoreless frames in the 4
th, 5
th and 6
th innings. Freshman Gigi Schiano closed out the bottom of the 7
th retiring the last two batters on a strike out and a pop up. Offensively, Bugman and Wilson were joined by freshman
Caiden Spinelli to each collect two hits in the game. Wilson also knocked in 4 runs.
After the games, Head Coach
Ross Trachtenberg had this to say: "I couldn't be prouder of this team. They competed for 14 innings today after 14 innings of baseball last night, and I am so glad they earned the win in Game 2."
The Ravens take the field next on Tuesday, April 21
st against Cairn University in a United East Conference match-up. Game time is 3pm at Heuser Park. Come support the Ravens on Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day at the park.
