Bob Hughes returns for his seventh season as the Head Coach of the Rosemont College men's basketball program in 2018-19.
Hughes, Rosemont's all-time leader in career wins, added a program record 17 wins during the 2017-18 campaign. The 2015 Colonial States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year looks to build off of last season's success and is poised to lead the Ravens to the CSAC postseason tournament for the sixth consecutive season
During his time on the Main Line, Hughes has recruited and mentored some of the top players in the CSAC. Hughes has coached nine different players to All-Conference Honors, including four first team selections. This past season, Jamir Hughes was named All-CSAC First Team and earned All-Atlantic Region Third Team honors from D3Hoops.com. Clayton Wolfe was added to the second team. In 2016, Marcus Thomas was named the CSAC Player of the Year, receiving numerous First Team All-Region nominations and adding Fourth Team All-American recognition from D3News. In addition, Hughes has coached two players, Nadir Stukes in 2015 & Kyle Lafferty in 2016, who were included in the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Honor Court for achievements on the court and in the classroom.
Prior to being hired at Rosemont, Hughes was an Assistant Coach at Washington College in Chestertown, MD, from 2010-2012. Hughes helped lead the Shoremen to their best season of the new millennium - a Centennial Conference semifinal appearance in 2012. He was a lead recruiter and key fundraiser for the program.
Between 2008 and 2010, Hughes was an Assistant Coach at Drew University (Madison, NJ), where he recruited the 2009 Landmark Conference Freshman of the Year. Prior to that, he worked for The Hoop Group as a Camp Coach, Talent Evaluator and Tournament Site Director. Hughes got his first exposure to coaching at the collegiate level at Saint Joseph’s University from 2005-2008, where he was the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity team.
Coach Hughes is familiar with Philadelphia-area basketball, earning his Bachelor of Science degree at St. Joseph’s in 2003 before continuing his education at Washington College, where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in 2012. Hughes graduated from Malvern Prep in 1999.
In addition to his head coaching duties, Hughes has been an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor and the Interim Head Golf Coach at Rosemont in 2015, when the program hosted the conference tournament.
A fan of vacationing down the Jersey Shore, Hughes resides in Philadelphia, PA, with his wife, Carolyn, and their children, Bobby, Molly, and Billy.
