Rosemont, Pa. – In front of a sold out crowd at Alumnae Hall the Ravens were nicked by the visiting Eastern University Eagles this evening by a final score of 61-60. The loss was the first of the season for Rosemont (2-1) and the first win for Eastern (1-2).
The Ravens fashioned a comeback after trailing by double-digits, 39-29 with 13:44 left to play, but put together a stretch to outscore the visitors 12-1 over the next 4:08 to take a 41-40 lead with 9:36 to play.
The Ravens would stretch their lead to 4 points after Clayton Wolfe sunk a trey, making the score 52-48 with 5:21 left to play, but from that point the Eagles came back, and for the remainder of the game no team would lead by more than two points.
Rosemont had a 60-58 lead with just under a minute remaining when Eastern's Shaquan Turk took advantage of an open long distance shot to sink the three-ball, giving the Eagles a 61-60 lead. The Ravens still had 19 seconds to put together a drive, but a blocked lay-up attempt just before the buzzer ended the game with the Ravens in arrears by that lone point.
Dom Scafidi put together a double-double tonight, scoring 10 points and pulling in 11 rebounds. Dyshon Pack had some key buckets, scoring 9 points while Marcus Thomas scored 8.
The Eagles were led by Malcolm Garrison's 19 points. Shaquan Turk (14) and Austin James (10) were the other Eastern players ending up in double-digits.
